Character AI Plus Price by Plan and Billing Period

The standard rates below come from Character.AI's Help Center (US dollars, "may vary by region") and match the in-app purchase list on the US App Store. Apple's list shows names and prices only, so the billing periods come from the Help Center. Web checkout through Stripe shows prices only after you log in.

The two Summer Flash Sale rows are limited-time offers for new or returning subscribers: $14.99 for the first three months, then $9.99 a month, or $59.99 for the first year, then $94.99. We could not confirm that either is still offered.

Free vs (c.ai) lite vs c.ai+

All three tiers keep unlimited messaging. What you pay for is premium chat styles, fewer ads, faster service and memory tools:

What Each Option Costs per Month and per Year

• c.ai+ annual: $94.99 a year is $7.92 a month. Twelve monthly payments cost $119.88, so annual saves $24.89, about 21%.
• c.ai+ monthly: $9.99 a month, $119.88 a year.
• lite monthly: $4.99 a month, $59.88 a year. We found no annual lite plan.
• lite weekly: $2.49 a week is about $10.79 a month and $129.48 a year: more than c.ai+ monthly, for fewer features.

Charms: Packs, Prices and What They Buy

Charms are an in-app currency, earned free through quests (daily log-in, creating a persona, posting to the feed and others) or bought in packs. The US App Store lists these prices, but not how many Charms each pack contains:

Charms pay for extra Imagine image generations, skipping slow mode and an ad-free pass (some Charm features are limited during the beta). They cannot be transferred or exchanged for money, and c.ai+ adds 20% bonus Charms on packs. With pack sizes unpublished, there is no way to work out a price per Charm.

Message, Image and Voice Limits

Messages are unlimited on every tier: "Unlimited messaging stays on every plan, including free." Lite's premium allowance is daily; when it runs out, chats switch to PipSqueak 3. Images are "Limited" on free and lite and "Unlimited" on c.ai+. Voice replies and two-way calls are free for everyone, with no published minute cap, so you never need to pay for voice.

Web vs App Store vs Google Play

The US App Store prices match the Help Center's US rates. Web prices appear only after login, and Google Play prices are not shown on the public listing. Prices vary by region, so check the checkout price in your country.

Paying During the Chapter 11 Sale

The company's October 12, 2026 notice says subscriptions "remain active, and billing is unchanged for now". If the service changes in a way that affects paid features, "we intend to notify subscribers in advance". The notice does not mention refunds, and the platform "will be wound down" if no acceptable buyer is found. The sale should close by early December 2026; our Chapter 11 news page follows it.

Renewal, Cancellation and Refunds

All paid plans renew automatically until you cancel. The Terms promise at least 30 days' notice of a price increase, applied from the next renewal. We found no free trial. Cancel where you bought the plan; access continues to the end of the billing period:

1. Web: Settings, Account, Manage, then use the Stripe customer-portal link sent by email.
2. iPhone: cancel in your Apple ID subscriptions.
3. Android: cancel in Google Play subscriptions.

Is c.ai+ Worth It?

• Casual chats with Characters: stay free. Messaging, voice and calls cost nothing; you accept ads.
• You mostly want fewer ads and a taste of premium styles: monthly lite at $4.99 covers that.
• Long roleplays where memory matters: c.ai+ is the only tier with Facts, advanced Lorebook and unlimited premium styles, so the Character AI Plus price buys the features heavy users notice most.
• You want adult content: no tier helps. NSFW is banned for every user, and paying does not bypass age assurance. Compare paid tiers elsewhere in Character.AI vs Janitor AI or our Character.AI alternatives.

How to Pay Less

• Earn Charms through quests before buying packs.
• Pick monthly lite over weekly lite for anything longer than two weeks.
• Annual c.ai+ is the cheapest per month ($7.92), but consider waiting until the Chapter 11 sale is settled.
