Quick answer
- What it is: an AI friend app for chat and roleplay on the web and Android, run by Labane Corp. Ltd of Limassol, Cyprus.
- Status: still live, but the official site opens with a banner pushing GetHoney, a separate product run by a different company. The Android app was last updated June 24, 2026.
- iPhone: the App Store link on Anima's own site returns a 404 page in the US, and Apple's lookup finds the app in none of the eight storefronts checked.
- Price: free to start. Subscriptions and tokens are sold in-app only, with no public price list; Google Play shows in-app items from $0.99 to $199.99.
- Adult content: Anima's own policies contradict each other, so we cannot tell you whether it is allowed.
What Is Anima?
Anima, also called Anima AI or MyAnima, is a companion app positioned as an "AI Friend". The home page at myanima.ai invites you to "have a friendly chat, roleplay" and "explore roleplay-like scenes", and the Google Play listing calls your companion "your perfect soulmate". It lives at the web address myanima.ai and on Google Play as "Anima: AI Friend Virtual Chat".
The company behind it is Labane Corp. Ltd of Limassol, Cyprus. It is the contracting party in the Terms, the data controller in the Privacy Policy and the seller name on Google Play. Some app directories name other companies as the developer, but every official document we read names Labane. The Play page data shows a first release in November 2020, and the site footer reads "Copyright (c) Anima AI 2023 - 2026". The same developer also lists a separate app, "Anima: My Virtual AI Boyfriend", on Google Play.
Anima fits our AI friend apps category rather than the character chat platforms. Our ranked list of AI girlfriend and companion apps shows the wider field.
Is Anima Still Active?
Yes, but with caveats that matter before you invest time or money. Here is what we saw on October 20, 2026.
The GetHoney banner
Opening myanima.ai shows an overlay that reads: "Anima is still here, but we've built a more advanced experience - GetHoney. More characters. More features." It offers two buttons, "Explore GetHoney" and "Continue to Anima".
GetHoney is not simply a new version of Anima. Its own Terms of Service name a different company, Svitlo Limited of Nicosia, Cyprus, and it has its own pricing. We found no announcement that Anima is shutting down, and no official statement on how the two companies are related beyond the banner itself.
Watch out
Clicking "Explore GetHoney" takes you to a different service with its own terms, prices and data controller. We found nothing official saying that an Anima account, subscription or chat history carries over.
The missing iOS app
The iOS button on Anima's site points to App Store app id1537239242. On October 20, 2026 that page returned HTTP 404 in the US store, and Apple's lookup service found no app with that id in the US, UK, German, Dutch, Canadian, Australian, French or Cypriot storefronts. The operator's US App Store seller page lists only two other apps, "AI Boyfriend Chat: iBoy" and "Matcha: Fantasy AI Chat Bots". A listing in some other country cannot be ruled out, but for most iPhone users Anima is not available as an app.
What still works
The web app sign-in page is live, with "Continue with Email" and "Continue as Guest". The Android app is on Google Play with 1M+ downloads and was updated on June 24, 2026.
Who Is It For?
Anima suits Android or web users who want a low-commitment AI friend to chat with and can accept that prices are only visible inside the app. A guest option makes it easy to look around before giving an email address.
It is a poor fit if you use an iPhone, want to know the price before you sign up, need clear rules on adult content, or want documented voice and image features. Given the GetHoney banner, it is also a risky choice for anyone planning a long-term relationship with one companion, since the operator is steering visitors to a different product.
How Anima Works
On the web you start at the sign-in page and choose email or guest access; the Privacy Policy also mentions signing in with Apple or Google. We did not test how far a guest account can go.
You then shape a companion. The home page says you can "browse styles, pick a vibe, and bring your dream AI companion to life", adjusting personality, tone, style and backstory and choosing the companion's sex. Anima also advertises proactive messages ("They even text you first if you go quiet"), and the Google Play description mentions personality tests and stress-reduction benefits, which are marketing claims we could not check.
Anima does not name the AI model behind the chat. The Privacy Policy refers only to unnamed "AI service providers".
Character Creation
Customization is described in general terms only. Based on the home page, you can:
- browse styles and pick a "vibe" for the companion's look;
- set personality, tone and conversational style;
- write a backstory;
- choose the companion's sex.
There is no published list of fields, no character limits and no community library of other users' characters. Whether there is a detailed avatar editor is not documented. If you want deeper creation tools, our page on AI girlfriend apps with custom characters compares apps that document theirs.
Chat Quality
We did not chat with Anima for this review, and the official site makes only broad claims about conversation quality. The store numbers give a rough signal: Google Play shows 4.0 stars from about 39,200 ratings and more than a million downloads.
User reports. Anima's Trustpilot profile is unclaimed and has only two reviews (TrustScore 3.1, checked October 20, 2026). The reviews, both from May 2026, complain about glitches and delays, weak roleplay with characters reverting after a few minutes, character options that became more restricted after an update, dated technology and high prices. Two reviews are far too few to draw conclusions from.
Personality and Roleplay
Anima presents itself first as a friend and second as a roleplay partner. The official wording promises friendly chats and "roleplay-like scenes", not structured roleplay tools: there are no documented scenario fields, lorebooks or group chats, and no named relationship modes. If roleplay is your main goal, our list of AI roleplay apps covers platforms built for it.
Memory
The home page says your companion "builds a kind of emotional memory they can use to trace the threads of past conversations" and "remembers the details of your life". Anima publishes no numbers on context size, no memory screen and no way to edit memories, so we cannot say how well this works in practice. Apps with documented memory systems are compared on our AI companion memory page.
Voice, Images and Video
None of these is confirmed as a feature. The home page says "Chat, call, and connect anywhere", and Anima's content policies refer to output "through text messages, voice messages, images, and videos". Google Play's data safety section also lists voice recordings and photos as collected data. But no feature page describes voice calls, voice replies, image generation or video, and no limits are published. If voice is important to you, see our list of AI companions you can talk to.
Adult / NSFW Features
This is where Anima's official texts are most confusing. Two policies revised on the same day, January 9, 2025, say opposite things:
- Anima's age policy (its policy on users under 18) says: "The Website includes AI-generated adult content for registered users only".
- The Blocked Content Policy says: "Our platform strictly prohibits generation of Adult or Sexually Explicit Content".
Several marketing pages on myanima.ai, such as an "18+ AI chat" page and an "AI chat no filter" page, advertise NSFW chat, and the company's own blog says NSFW content is "in the premium plan only". Meanwhile Google Play rates the app "Everyone". We did not test the product, so we cannot tell you which of these reflects reality.
On moderation, the Blocked Content Policy describes a proprietary content filter and says the company may manually review flagged content. The age check is a self-declaration at registration, with no ID or selfie step. The minimum age is also inconsistent: the Terms and the age policy say users must be 18 or older, but the Terms also allow use by users under 18 with parental permission, and the Privacy Policy mentions users over 16.
If adult content is what you want, choose an app whose rules are stated clearly; our list of NSFW AI girlfriend apps only includes apps whose policies say what is allowed.
Mobile and Web Availability
- Web: yes, at myanima.ai, with email or guest sign-in.
- Android: yes, on Google Play: 1M+ downloads, 4.0 stars, updated June 24, 2026, rated "Everyone".
- iPhone: not in the US App Store or seven other storefronts we checked (see above).
- Desktop: no native app is mentioned; use the web app.
The Subscription Terms also mention purchases through Huawei AppGallery, but we did not verify a current listing there. For other options by device, see our AI girlfriend apps for iPhone and Android pages.
Pricing
Anima publishes no prices. Its FAQ says "we don't charge you when you get started. However, when you want to upgrade, you do need to purchase tokens to unlock some higher-tiered features." Plan prices and token packs appear only inside the app.
Anima does not show a plan list we could check without an account. We publish only prices we could see on official pages or store listings.
Anima publishes no fixed Tokens packs with prices.
Spent on: 'to unlock some higher-tiered features' (official FAQ); not itemised publicly.
What the official documents do tell you:
- Store range: Google Play lists in-app items from $0.99 to $199.99 per item (US view, October 2026), without naming them.
- Billing periods: the Subscription Terms allow weekly, monthly, 6-monthly or yearly subscriptions, depending on the option you choose.
- Renewal: subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled; price changes are announced in the app or by email, and you may cancel before they apply.
- Trial: the terms say Anima "may offer a free or a paid trial", but we saw no concrete offer.
The company's own blog quotes different figures in different places (one passage says a paid plan starts at $9.99 a month or $39.99 a year, another says around $7.99 a month). Because the numbers contradict each other and are not on a price page, we do not treat them as Anima's prices.
Cancellation and refunds
- Google Play: cancel under subscriptions in your Play account. Huawei purchases are cancelled in your Huawei account.
- App Store: if you subscribed on iPhone in the past, turn off auto-renewal in your Apple ID subscription settings.
- Website purchases: use your account settings or email [email protected].
- Refunds: website payments can be refunded only if you ask within 24 hours; store refunds go through Apple or Google. Users in the EU, EEA, UK and Switzerland have a 14-day withdrawal right, which is usually lost once the service starts with their consent.
Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription, and access continues to the end of the paid period. Our subscription cancellation guide walks through each store.
Free Plan
Anima is free to start, and the web app offers a guest mode. What the free tier includes, and where tokens or a subscription become necessary, is not published. The FAQ only says tokens unlock "some higher-tiered features".
Privacy and Data Handling
Anima's Privacy Policy is more specific than its feature pages, though some expandable sections could not be read. By topic:
- Data collected: name and email, plus language, IP address, time zone, device type and settings, operating system, ISP, carrier, hardware ID, Facebook ID and advertising identifiers. Google Play adds voice recordings, photos, app activity and diagnostics.
- Model training: section 3.11 says data is used "to train and improve our AI models", including analysis of usage patterns, feedback and interactions. No opt-out is described.
- Human review: conversations are "generally confidential", but flagged content may be reviewed manually.
- Encryption: the policy text we read does not describe it. Google Play's developer-provided label says data is encrypted in transit; storage encryption is not stated.
- Retention: data is kept "for as long as it is reasonably necessary", with no fixed period.
- Third parties: Azure, Facebook, Firebase, Appsflyer, Amplitude, Google, Stripe, OneSignal and RevenueCat are named, plus unnamed "AI service providers". Ads personalization via Facebook is described.
- Deletion and export: request erasure by email to [email protected]; Google Play says deletion can be requested. EEA users can ask for data portability. An in-app delete button was not verified.
For what these terms mean in practice, read our guides on whether AI girlfriend apps are safe and who can read your companion chats.

Best Alternatives to Anima
If the uncertain status worries you, these companion apps in our research have clearer documentation:
- Replika: its help center says chatting "will always be free", and it has iOS, Android and web apps. Each account has one companion. Our Anima vs Replika comparison goes through the differences.
- Nomi: a free plan with 50 messages a day, several companions and group chats on paid accounts, and a documented memory system.
- Paradot: another single customizable companion on Android and the web. It shares some of Anima's problems, including a missing iOS listing and no public prices.
Apps like Anima
Final verdict
Anima still works on the web and Android, is free to start and promises a friendly companion with memory. But in October 2026 almost everything around it is uncertain: its own site promotes a different company's product, the iOS app is gone, prices are hidden in the app, and its policies contradict each other on adult content and minimum age.
Try it as a guest if you are curious, but avoid annual plans until the operator says what happens to Anima. If you want a companion you can rely on long term, an app with published prices and consistent policies is the safer choice.
FAQ
Is Anima AI still working?
Yes, as of October 20, 2026. The web app sign-in is live and the Android app was updated on June 24, 2026. The site does, however, open with a banner that promotes GetHoney, and the iOS app is no longer in the US App Store.
Is Anima the same as GetHoney?
No. Anima's site promotes GetHoney as "a more advanced experience", but GetHoney's own terms name a different company, Svitlo Limited, while Anima is run by Labane Corp. Ltd. GetHoney has its own pricing, and we found nothing saying Anima accounts carry over.
Is Anima AI free?
It is free to start, and the web app has a guest mode. Higher-tier features need tokens or a subscription, but the free limits and prices are only shown inside the app.
Does Anima allow NSFW content?
The official policies conflict. Anima's age policy says the website includes adult content for registered users, while the Blocked Content Policy prohibits sexually explicit content. Google Play rates the app "Everyone". We cannot confirm which rule applies.
Can I get Anima on iPhone?
Not from the US App Store. The App Store link on Anima's site returns a 404 page, and the app was not found in eight storefronts on October 20, 2026. iPhone users can try the web app in a browser.
How do I cancel my Anima subscription?
Cancel where you paid: Google Play subscriptions, your Apple ID settings, your Huawei account, or for web purchases your account settings or [email protected]. Deleting the app does not cancel the subscription.
