Quick answer
- Talkie is a free character chat and creation community: you chat with user-made characters called Talkies or build your own, on the web, Android and iPhone.
- On iPhone, the official download link now opens "Talkie Lab - AI Playground" by the same operator; no app named Talkie appears in the US App Store. The Android app "Talkie: Creative AI Community" is live on Google Play.
- Sexual content is banned outright, including suggestive content. There is no adult mode.
- Free use is ad-supported. The US App Store lists $9.99 for "1 Month", $24.99 for "1 Month Talkie+ Pro" and $49.99 for "1 Year", but Talkie does not publish what each includes.
- Its Terms allow users from age 14 (16 in 18 listed countries), while the App Store rates the iOS app 18+.
What Is Talkie?
Talkie (also called Talkie AI) is run by SUBSUP PTE. LTD., a Singapore company named as operator in its privacy policy. The site footer says "Powered by MiniMax", and the FAQ says characters are "purely the product of AI technology powered by Minimax". MiniMax's own write-up on the site describes a role-play model and says this is its "third year optimizing Role-Play in Talkie / Xingye".
The product is a community: a large library of user-made characters (Talkies) sorted by categories, tags and trending lists, creation tools for images, video, audio and music, and a community feed. Our overview of AI character chat apps puts it next to similar platforms.
Talkie on iPhone: The Talkie Lab Listing
This is the part most people searching "is Talkie still on the App Store" want to know. In December 2024, Yahoo and the South China Morning Post reported that Talkie had been unavailable in the US App Store for about six days for "technical reasons", while staying on Google Play. In October 2026 we found no listing named Talkie in the US App Store.
The official site's iOS download button now leads to "Talkie Lab - AI Playground" (first released February 2025, version 2.61.601 updated October 19, 2026) from the same seller, SUBSUP PTE. LTD., in the US and Canadian stores. Its Terms link points to Talkie's own Terms. Oddly, the store description is generic: it talks about a "versatile multimodal AI experience" and names MiniMax Text-01 and DeepSeek-V3, but does not mention characters. We could not confirm that Talkie Lab matches the Android app feature for feature.
Tip
To avoid copycats, install from the links on talkie-ai.com and check that the seller is SUBSUP. Some review sites claim Talkie was removed from Google Play in 2026; the Play listing was live and updated on October 14, 2026 when we checked.
Who Is Talkie For?
Based on official materials, Talkie suits people who want a free, browsable character community on web and mobile, enjoy creating characters with images, video and music, and do not need adult content. Creators can also earn a revenue share on original content.
It is a poor fit for adult roleplay, for anyone who dislikes ads, and for people who want to know exactly what a subscription buys before paying. If you want a dedicated romantic companion instead, see our AI girlfriend app rankings.
How Talkie Works
You sign in with Google, Apple or email and password. Web onboarding asks for a self-declared age bracket and a "relationship preference" (male, female or non-binary) used for recommendations. You then browse Talkies and hit "Chat Now", or open "Create a Talkie". Talkie says account requirements "can vary by interaction and device"; we did not confirm whether you can chat without signing in.
A newer beta called Talkie Claw lets characters write first, know your time zone and weather, send images, videos and songs, and chat with you on Discord, Telegram and WhatsApp.
Character Creation
"Create a Talkie" builds an AI persona with image, video, audio and music creation tools. Every AI setting is moderated before it goes live. Creators of original, copyright-compliant Talkies can earn a revenue share, and original authors can get a yellow verification badge. Talkie does not publish field lists or character limits. See AI apps with custom characters to compare creation tools.
Chat Quality
We did not chat with Talkie ourselves, so here are official statements and labelled user reports. Officially, replies come from MiniMax models and are generated "without any actual human oversight". User reports on Google Play (4.5 out of 5 from about 860,000 reviews, August to September 2026) praise how much is free, but several complain about frequent ads, rewards for watching ads not registering, and a filter that answers harmless messages with "Please change your topic". The US App Store listing for Talkie Lab averages 4.71 from 59,844 ratings. Reddit was not readable for our research.
Personality and Roleplay
Roleplay is central: the site has "AI Roleplay Chat" pages, and MiniMax describes a role-play model tuned for Talkie. Within its content rules, the FAQ says Talkie aims "to support a diverse range of character types within safe parameters". Group chats are not documented. Our list of AI roleplay apps compares platforms with looser rules.
Memory
The Google Play description says Talkies "evolve and adapt with extended memory", and the website has a Memory page where users can share memories with the community. The FAQ is candid: "AI memory capacity is technically limited, causing older conversations to be forgotten." No memory tools such as pins or editable notes are documented. Apps with stronger recall are in our AI companions with memory list.
Voice, Image and Video Features
The Google Play listing advertises "advanced creation tools, including AI image, video, audio and music", plus AI movies shared in the community. The privacy policy confirms voice messages ("voice and text messages"). Voice calls are not documented, and no limits are published for images, video or voice. The Community Guidelines ban explicit images. See AI apps with image generation and AI apps with video for comparisons.
Adult / NSFW Features
Talkie has no adult mode. The FAQ says "Pornographic and violent content are prohibited", and the Community Guidelines (January 2025) ban "both explicit sexual content and content with suggestive or implicit sexual undertones", including nudity and "sexually suggestive poses, gestures, or descriptions". The FAQ adds that the AI is "designed to automatically filter content against regional laws and regulations". If you want adult roleplay, compare the policies in our NSFW AI girlfriend apps list.
Age Policy
The Terms (updated April 2025) allow users from age 14: "You must be at least 14 years old to use our Services, except where a higher minimum age is required by local law." The minimum is 16 in 18 listed countries, including Germany, Ireland, the Netherlands, Poland, Brazil, Malaysia, the Philippines and Singapore.
The store ratings are stricter than the Terms. The App Store rates Talkie Lab 18+ with Age Assurance and Parental Controls, while Google Play gives the Android app a lower rating with a "Sexual Themes" descriptor. The privacy policy lists "verifying the age of registered users" as a purpose, but the verification method is not documented beyond the self-declared age bracket.
Mobile and Web Availability
- Web: talkie-ai.com, with the full character library. No desktop app.
- Android: "Talkie: Creative AI Community" by SUBSUP, 50M+ downloads, contains ads, updated October 14, 2026.
- iPhone: "Talkie Lab - AI Playground" by SUBSUP PTE. LTD. (see above). Our AI companion apps for iPhone list covers other options.
Pricing
Talkie publishes no price page. The website header shows "Unlock with Talkie+ -50%" without a price, and Google Play prices are not shown publicly. The only list we could check is the in-app purchase list of the US App Store listing for Talkie Lab:
| Plan | Price | Billing | Where | Includes |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| '1 Month' (Talkie+ monthly, as named on the store list) | $9.99 | month | iOS (App Store US, listing 'Talkie Lab') | Talkie+ is described in the Terms as 'a subscription-fee based program, which gives full access to the Services'; the store list does not say which product the item name '1 Month' belongs to |
| '1 Month Talkie+ Pro' | $24.99 | month | iOS (App Store US) | not described on the store listing |
| '1 Year' (as named on the store list) | $49.99 | year | iOS (App Store US) | not described; Terms say paid subscriptions are 'paid in monthly installments', so the yearly item's product is unclear |
| Talkie Gems | $1.99 | iOS (App Store US), one-off purchase | currency pack, gem amount not shown | |
| Talkie Gems | $4.99 | iOS (App Store US) | gem amount not shown | |
| Talkie Gems | $9.99 | iOS (App Store US) | gem amount not shown | |
| Talkie Gems | $19.99 | iOS (App Store US) | gem amount not shown | |
| Sparks Pass - 7 Days | $0.59 | 7 days | iOS (App Store US) | not described |
| 10 Level Talkie Gift Pack | $0.49 | iOS (App Store US) | gift pack | |
| 20 Level Talkie Gift Pack | $1.00 | iOS (App Store US) | gift pack |

The Terms describe Talkie+ as a subscription "which gives full access to the Services", paid "in monthly installments" through the app store. The list adds a "Talkie+ Pro" tier at $24.99 a month and a "1 Year" item at $49.99 (about $4.17 a month), but Talkie does not say what Pro adds or which product the yearly item is. We found no free trial or lifetime plan.
Several currencies add to the confusion. The App Store sells "Talkie Gems" from $1.99 to $19.99 without stating amounts, Talkie Claw uses "Diamonds" (first 20 messages free, then billing by response length, although the same page calls it members-only and free for all during the beta), and the FAQ mentions collectible cards that can be traded for virtual currency.
Cancel and refunds: subscriptions renew automatically and can be cancelled only in the App Store or Google Play where you bought them. The Terms say fees are non-refundable to the extent the law allows, with no partial-month refunds; the FAQ allows exceptions for system errors and duplicate charges. Our cancellation guide has the store steps, and the AI companion pricing overview compares other apps.
Free Plan
The Terms call the free tier "Free Use" and the site is titled "Free AI Character Chat". It is ad-supported (Google Play notes "Contains ads"). Talkie does not publish message, image or voice limits for free users, and if a subscription payment fails the account drops back to Free Use. Compare other free tiers in our free AI roleplay apps list.
Privacy and Data Handling
From the privacy policy (December 2025) and store labels:
- Collected: account and login data, profile details (birth date, pronouns, work status), voice and text messages, interests, payments and rewards, device, network and usage data.
- Training: the chatbot "learn[s] from your interactions to improve your conversations". Conversation content is never used for marketing or advertising. No opt-out is described.
- Human review: the guidelines describe "human oversight with advanced AI technology" for content monitoring.
- Encryption: data is encrypted in transmission and stored on secure servers; at-rest or end-to-end encryption is not stated.
- Sharing: advertising partners receive website-visitor data (never conversations), which the policy says "may be considered a sale or sharing"; you can opt out through "Your Privacy Choices". Data may be stored in the USA.
- Deletion and export: deactivating at talkie-ai.com/delete permanently erases personal data and conversations. The export tool returns only email, username, gender and age, not chats.
Google Play's data-safety section is contradictory, saying "No data collected" while listing app interactions and search history as shared. Our guide to how apps store your chats explains what to look for.

FAQ
Is Talkie free?
Yes. The free tier ("Free Use") is ad-supported, and Talkie does not publish its limits. Paid items on the US App Store start at $9.99 for "1 Month".
Is Talkie still on the App Store?
Not under the name Talkie in the US. The official iOS link opens "Talkie Lab - AI Playground" by the same operator, SUBSUP. The Android app is on Google Play.
Does Talkie allow NSFW?
No. Explicit sexual content and content with suggestive or implicit sexual undertones are prohibited, and an automatic filter applies.
Who owns Talkie?
SUBSUP PTE. LTD. in Singapore operates the apps and website, and the site says it is powered by MiniMax.
Can I export my Talkie chats?
No. The official export returns only your email, username, gender and age. Deleting your account erases conversations permanently.
Final verdict
Talkie offers a lot for free: a large community of characters, creation tools for images, video and music, and apps on Android and iPhone (as Talkie Lab) plus the web. It suits users who want safe-for-work character chat and creation.
The downsides are a strict no-sexual-content policy, frequent ads, a confusing set of currencies, subscription tiers whose contents Talkie does not explain, and no chat export. Try the free tier first, and be wary of paying until Talkie publishes what each plan includes.
