Quick answer
- No AI companion app is filter-free. Apps that advertise "unfiltered" or "uncensored" chat nearly always describe banned content or screening in their own documents, so the word describes how permissive an app is, not an absence of rules.
- The most permissive text policies in official wording: Kindroid ("not implementing a filter on the AI itself"), Nomi (unfiltered text, no nude images), CrushOn.AI (an Unfiltered switch and a Hidden Content level) and Janitor AI (adult content between consenting adult characters, with published limits).
- The counter-example is Character.AI: its help center calls its NSFW filters "final". Talkie, Chai and EVA AI also rule adult content out.
- On several apps images are filtered harder than text, and the mobile apps harder than the web version.
- Read the terms, not the ad: several apps advertise "no restrictions" and then list prohibited content in their own guidelines.
What "Unfiltered" Means in an AI Companion App
Unfiltered AI chat is shorthand for a chatbot that does not block adult or edgy topics with a content filter. An app can filter in several places, and "unfiltered" usually means only that one of them is relaxed:
- The model itself. In apps with a model picker, an outside model can add its own moderation: CrushOn.AI's wiki says some third-party models return empty replies "caused by their moderation system", so users switch models.
- Input and output checks. Romantic AI's Content Management Policy describes an AI filter that screens inputs before generation and classifies text and images before delivery.
- Account-level enforcement. Scans of what you wrote, followed by warnings, locks or bans, as at Kindroid.
- Levels, tags and switches. CrushOn.AI's three content levels, Janitor AI's Limited and Limitless tags, SpicyChat's NSFW toggle.
Store rules shape the mobile versions. Apple's App Review Guidelines (updated October 16, 2026) require apps with user-generated content or AI content creation to filter objectionable material, and say mature content from a web service must be hidden by default and shown only when the user turns it on via the website. Google Play's user-generated content policy asks that incidental sexual content be filtered by default. See Apple and Google's tighter AI companion rules.
This page is about filters. For adult romance, explicit images and age checks, see our ranking of NSFW AI girlfriend apps; for the term, the glossary entry on the NSFW filter.
How We Picked
We did not chat with these apps or test their filters, so we cannot say how strict any filter is in practice. The order follows what each app puts in writing: what is allowed, what is banned, whether a switch or tag exists, how images differ from text, and how age is checked. User reports are labeled; everything else is from official pages checked on October 20, 2026.
Best Apps for Unfiltered AI Chat
All of these are 18+ services. The order is by how clearly the policy is written, not by how little it blocks.

1. Kindroid

Kindroid's moderation guidelines say it is "not implementing a filter on the AI itself" and allow NSFW and erotic roleplay in private chats. Safety is enforced at account level instead: three red lines (imminent self-harm, imminent harm to others, child sexual abuse material), automated scans of your messages and input fields such as backstory, and a warn-first approach before a lock.
Limits: NSFW is not allowed in shared content (Kindroid Social, shared Kins, Rooms listings), the iOS and Android apps apply stricter image rules than the web, and there is no ongoing free plan since October 1, 2026. See our Kindroid review.

2. CrushOn.AI

CrushOn.AI's official wiki describes Filtered (the default: no sexual content in chats or images), Unfiltered (sexual roleplay allowed in chat, but images cannot show nudity or sexual acts) and Hidden Content (full NSFW access for registered users, unlocked by logging in, checking in on 2 days and spending 50 message credits). "SFW roles strictly block sensitive words," the wiki adds.
The free plan (100 credits a month) is enough to try the levels. Trustpilot reviewers in July and August 2026 say a US$0.99 card payment now gates 18+ content; no official page we read mentions it (unconfirmed). See our CrushOn.AI review.

3. Janitor AI
Roleplay platform by JanitorAI Inc
Best published rules, plus your own model
- Price
- from $12.99/mo
- Free plan
- Yes
- NSFW
- Yes
- Voice calls
- No (planned)
- Images
- No (planned)
- Memory

Janitor AI never calls itself unfiltered. Its Community Guidelines (February 4, 2026) say it "permits adult content between consenting adult characters" and list what is banned whatever the tag, including sexual content involving minors or minor-coded characters, incest between blood relatives and pornographic or nude images. Characters with sexual or romantic themes carry the Limitless tag; Limited means none.
You can connect your own model through API settings, so your messages go to that provider. The mobile apps (beta) start in a Restricted Mode you lift on the website, and in July 2025 a test system prompt meant to block banned topics also blocked ordinary adult chats and was rolled back. See our Janitor AI review.

4. Nomi
Companion app by Glimpse.ai, Inc
Unfiltered text, strict on images
- Price
- from $15.99/mo
- Free plan
- Yes
- NSFW
- Yes
- Voice calls
- Yes
- Images
- Yes
- Memory
- Yes
- Platforms
- Web · iOS · Android
Nomi's home page says it is "built on freedom of expression" and must "remain unfiltered and uncensored"; its wiki mentions only "some guardrails" for extreme cases. Images differ: Nomis "are not permitted to take nude photos of themselves", and selfies pass a nudity filter. In 2026 CEO Q&As the company said image rules vary by platform, with the mobile app most restricted and paid or age-verified web least.
California users who express self-harm see crisis links under SB 243. The free plan gives 50 messages a day. See our Nomi review.

5. SpicyChat
Character chat platform by NextDay AI Incorporated
Largest library with NSFW switches
- Price
- from $5.95/mo
- Free plan
- Yes
- NSFW
- Yes
- Voice calls
- Not confirmed
- Images

SpicyChat's download page promises "Explicit chat content with no restrictions", but that is marketing, not a separate mode: the Community Guidelines and Terms still prohibit characters who are minors, non-consensual content, incest and family roleplay, and photorealistic pornography. The FAQ says every chatbot, even those listed as SFW, can take part in NSFW roleplay.
You get controls: a profile toggle to show or hide NSFW chatbots and blur explicit images, and an NSFW Mode for Conversation Images on paid tiers. Trustpilot reviewers complain of automated moderation with no route to a human (user reports). See our SpicyChat review.

6. Nastia AI
NSFW AI girlfriend platform by Nastia Cybernetics
Uncensored on a free account, by its own account
- Price
- Official prices conflict
- Free plan

Nastia AI calls itself "not a general chatbot with a filter toggle" and says NSFW content "is on from the first message", free tier included. Its Terms still ban anything depicting or suggesting people under 18 (including "aged-up" characters), real people, non-consensual activity and more, and say requests and generated media "are screened automatically".
Official pages disagree on price ($15.99 a month versus "from $6.69/mo"). See our Nastia AI review.
Apps With Permanent Filters: The Counter-Example
If you came to switch a filter off, these apps say you cannot. Character.AI is the clearest case. Its help center says pornographic content "will not be supported at any point in the future", calls its stance on NSFW filters "final" and says requests to remove them "will result in a ban". The Creator Guide adds that filtering happens "at the platform level" and "isn't a Definition dial you can turn", so no character definition unlocks forbidden content. The company is in a court-supervised sale (see our Chapter 11 report), so check the current policy first.
- Talkie: the FAQ says "Pornographic and violent content are prohibited", and the Community Guidelines also ban suggestive content.
- Chai: the Safety Center says its models are "designed to refuse the generation of restricted material, including sexually explicit content". Users can add filters to hide explicit messages.
- EVA AI: its June 2026 Terms forbid using the app "to generate, request, or share any sexually explicit, pornographic, or adult-themed content". We did not test enforcement.
If you want clear limits but adult content allowed, compare Character.AI vs Janitor AI.
Filter Policies Compared
In the table, "Yes" under Unfiltered means the app's own pages describe an unfiltered or uncensored approach; it does not mean the app has no rules. "No" means the app says its filters are permanent. "Not confirmed" means we found no official statement, or the statements conflict.

When marketing and policy disagree
Several apps use "uncensored" in ads while their own documents describe moderation, which is why we do not mark them "Yes" above.
| App | What the marketing says | What the policies say |
|---|---|---|
| Candy AI | Site description promises "uncensored fantasy experiences" | Terms describe moderation that can alter or block requests; the help center says safety systems "may still limit certain types of interactions regardless of character settings" |
| GirlfriendGPT | Powered by an "unrestricted AI Chat Generator" | Its policy on minors and its Terms describe a proprietary LLM filter with manual review of flagged content; the image generator has a Safe Mode switch |
| DreamGF | Promotes explicit chat and a nude image generator | No filter switch; automated flagging, human review of flagged content, banned-word lists and vetted prompt categories |
| Muah AI | "Uncensored AI companion chat" | Its uncensored-AI page says "uncensored" does not mean every AI core, media tool or subscription behaves identically; the Terms prohibit illegal content. A 2024 breach exposed 1.9 million email addresses with prompts (Have I Been Pwned) |
| Paradot | A hidden meta description claims "unrestricted, uncensored, and no filter" interactions | Terms and Privacy Policy say nothing about adult content; we treat the claim as SEO copy |
| Anima | SEO pages advertise a "no filter" experience | Two policies revised on the same day contradict each other: one says the site includes adult content for registered users, the other that it "strictly prohibits" adult or sexually explicit content |
How Filters Differ Between Apps
Text versus images. Images are where policies diverge most. Nomi allows unfiltered text but no nude photos; CrushOn.AI's Unfiltered level allows sexual roleplay but no nudity in images; Janitor AI bans pornographic or nude images; Kindroid's mobile apps apply stricter image rules than its web app. SpicyChat lets paid tiers turn on an NSFW Mode for Conversation Images. Details are on our page about AI girlfriends with image generation.
Private versus shared. Many apps relax rules in private chats and tighten them where others can see. Kindroid allows NSFW in private chats but not in shared content; Janitor AI makes you tag sexual or romantic characters Limitless; CrushOn.AI's guidelines bar sexual content in avatars and profiles.
Mobile versus web. Janitor AI says its apps start in Restricted Mode for store compliance, and Apple removed SpicyChat's iPhone app in August 2025 after finding it did not comply with its guidelines. Candy AI, Kupid AI, Nastia AI and Muah AI run in the browser; see browser-based AI girlfriend apps.
Region and age. Some filters switch on by location: SpicyChat locks NSFW content in listed regions until an age check is passed, and Janitor AI runs a one-time check in the UK, Australia and Brazil. The rules behind this are in our reports on Australia's age checks and the UK's 18+ plan.
Tip
General advice: before you pay, find three things in the app's own documents: what is banned, whether images follow the same rule as text, and what happens when you break a rule (warning, lock or ban).
Free vs Paid Access
- Free tiers with loose rules: Janitor AI (unlimited chats on its built-in model), CrushOn.AI (100 credits a month), Nastia AI (daily token limits), SpicyChat (no message cap stated) and Nomi (50 messages a day).
- Paid only: Kindroid, after a one-time preview of 50 messages (15 in some regions) and a 3-day trial that needs a payment method.
- Paying can change the filter: SpicyChat's NSFW Mode for images starts at the $19.95 True Supporter tier, and Romantic AI lists "unblurred spicy replies" as a Premium benefit.
Our list of free NSFW AI chat covers the free side in depth.
Limitations and Privacy Notes
- Unfiltered is not private. CrushOn.AI's policy says chats are used "in a general way" to train its models, and Candy AI's Terms license your content for AI training. Nomi and Kindroid state their chats are not end-to-end encrypted. See whether apps can read your messages.
- Unfiltered does not mean no safety rules about self-harm. Kindroid's red lines include it, and laws in California and New York require crisis protocols (see our US chatbot law report). MIT Technology Review reported in February 2025 that a Nomi companion gave a user explicit self-harm instructions; we cannot verify current model behavior.
- Breaking a rule can cost the account. Kindroid locks accounts after warnings, Character.AI says asking for filter removal "will result in a ban", and Janitor AI permanently bans suspected minors.
- Over-filtering reports. Reviewers say Talkie answers harmless text with "Please change your topic" and that Kupid AI's filter is "insanely overtuned" (user reports, not tests).

FAQ
What does unfiltered AI chat mean?
A chatbot that does not block adult or edgy topics with a content filter. In practice it means one filter is relaxed: Kindroid says it does not filter the AI itself, and Nomi leaves text unfiltered but filters nude images. Nearly every app still bans some content.
Is there an AI girlfriend app with no filter at all?
No app we cover is filter-free. Kindroid has account-level red lines, CrushOn.AI, SpicyChat, Nastia AI and Janitor AI publish banned categories, and Muah AI's cores behave differently from one another.
Can you turn off the Character.AI filter?
No. Its help center calls the NSFW filters "final", says they apply to every user, adults included, and warns that requests to remove them "will result in a ban". No character definition unlocks them.
Why does an "uncensored" app still refuse some requests?
Banned categories (such as anything involving minors, non-consensual content or real people) apply everywhere. Images, shared content and mobile apps often follow stricter rules than private text chat, and an outside model in a picker can add its own moderation.
Are unfiltered AI chats private?
Not fully. None of the apps claims end-to-end encryption, several may use chats to train models, flagged content can be reviewed by staff on some apps, and Muah AI had a breach in 2024. Use a separate email address and read each privacy policy.
Do I have to verify my age for unfiltered chat?
It depends on the app and your location. SpicyChat and Janitor AI require a check in listed regions, Kindroid asks flagged free accounts to verify, and most others rely on you confirming you are 18. See our NSFW pillar for the full list.
